ABOUT
Grace Dickerson was born and raised in Kansas. She attended the University of Kansas, where she received a BFA in photography, along with a bachelor’s degree in applied behavioral science with a concentration in juvenile justice.
Her practice begins with collecting. She makes photographs and gathers materials intuitively in a diaristic method in order to fulfill curiosities and understand the history that produced her. Meaning emerges through the editing process by juxtaposing memories and personal histories across time.
Grace works within a post-documentary framework, but still makes time for commissioned and journalistic work, as it helps inspire her practice as a whole. She is currently based in Chicago, where she assists photographer Kenn Cook Jr. and works under the mentorship of photographer Simon Chang to complete her project titled Miracle Baby.
