Grace Dickerson is an artist who uses the medium of photography to express her creative themes. She was born and raised in Kansas City, Kansas, and recently moved to Chicago, Illinois to further her artistic practice. Her work explores a theme of examination, she uses photography to break down the details of an emotion or experience so that she can understand the full depth of their complexity. This is enriched through her preference toward the more physical photographic practices, such as film processing, flatbed scanning, toy cameras with thermal printers, and risograph printing. She received a BFA in fine art photography, along with a degree in behavioral science, from the University of Kansas.
Grace is currently working under the mentorship of Simon Chang to complete her long term project “Miracle Baby”. She is also continuing her practice in the form of flatbed scanning to archive family documents, and other found objects and documents to continue telling past stories.
